Playlists
A playlist is the schedule of your course: sections for chapters or dates, and in them the questions in the order in which you ask them. This guide shows how to create a semester playlist, fill it and copy it for the next semester.

The Playlists page
Step 1 of 15Under Playlists all playlists are listed in a table. A click on a row shows its tree with sections and questions below; select a question, and the preview on the right shows what it looks like. You start a new playlist with New playlist.

Create a new playlist At the top you choose the language: enter the name for each content language; a filled dot on the tab shows that this version exists.
Step 2 of 15Open Playlists and click New playlist. Enter Name and Semester; under Course you assign the playlist to a course list (needed for the join modes with names). Add topic fills the playlist with an entire topic from Topics & Questions — subtopics become sections. Questions with a scenario can be bundled into question blocks right away.

The playlist tree
Step 3 of 15The playlist is now in the table at the top, with its tree below: the subtopics have become sections. Select a question in the tree, and the preview on the right shows what it looks like. Above the tree is the toolbar — the next picture shows it in detail.

The toolbar
Step 4 of 15The toolbar above the tree: New section, Add questions from the question pool, New question here (creates a question and inserts it right away), Form a question block from several selected questions, More actions (three dots: among others peer instruction, planned time, copying) and Start. In between are rename, remove and a short guide.

New section
Step 5 of 15Select in the tree where the section should go (the playlist itself, a section or a question — then it is created right after it) and click New section. Sections structure the playlist by chapters or dates; they can be moved, indented and skipped.

Add questions
Step 6 of 15Add questions opens the question pool: the topics on the left, their questions to check on the right. Add appends the checked questions to the selected section; Include entire topic brings in a whole topic with its subtopics. The same question may appear in several playlists — it is always edited in the question pool.

Form a question block At the top you choose the language: enter the name and the task description for each content language.
Step 7 of 15Several questions of a section can be combined into a question block: click the first question, add more with Cmd-click or Ctrl-click, then Group selection into a question block. A block appears on the devices as a whole — participants work through its questions at their own pace, for example on a shared case study. The task description is shown above it.

Question block and scenario in the tree
Step 8 of 15This is what a finished question block looks like, here in the sample playlist “Presenting all question types”. The symbol ⧉ Block marks a question block: in the session, all its questions are opened together and closed together; participants work on them in any order. The outlined label next to it names the scenario — the shared starting situation that appears, together with the task description, as a preamble before the questions. Hover over it and a tooltip shows the text; you change it in the menu ⋮ → Question block & preamble.

Groups and stations
Step 9 of 15For group work, one question block is enough: in the session you divide the participants into groups under Assign → Create groups, and all groups work on the same block. For stations mode, several question blocks sit side by side in the same section — here “Group work (2 stations)” with two stations. Start this section; in the session each group then works at its own station, and afterwards the groups swap. The projector shows the station board: which group works at which station and how far it has got. The guide Group work shows the whole flow.

Categories and planned time
Step 10 of 15Every question has a category: ★ Must for the core, ☆ Should for application and practice, – Could for going deeper. A click on the symbol moves to the next one; on the selected row the keys 1, 2 and 3 work as well. On the far right is the planned time of each question, for sections the sum below; the time with ★ counts only the must questions. What the categories control: at the start you choose under Included which categories go into the session — for example only Must and Should at first. In the running session you switch categories on or off at any time. If there is time left at the end, switch on only Could and let the dice on a section draw a few could questions that have not been played yet. If time gets short, the ★ time shows whether at least the core still fits.

Time and balance
Step 11 of 15After the first sessions, the playlist shows how things went. The table lists Progress, the planned and the used time. In the tree, each question shows the attainment of the last run (red at 50 percent and below), the time actually taken and, on the far right, the planned duration — so you see where your plan for next semester is too tight.

Turn on peer instruction
Step 12 of 15For a peer instruction question, select a multiple-choice question and choose Turn on peer instruction in the More actions menu. In the session, the first vote is followed by a discussion with the neighbors and a second round; the reveal compares both.

Peer instruction in the tree and on the projector
Step 13 of 15A red ↻2 after the question type marks peer instruction. In the session the question runs in two rounds with a discussion in between; for that, the projector shows the discussion prompt by itself (top right picture). After the reveal, the projector compares both rounds — each bar shows the share from round 1 and round 2. The guide Session tools shows the flow in the session.

Planned time and note
Step 14 of 15The note button at the end of each row opens Planned time and note: the planned time goes into the time planning of the playlist, the note is seen only by you — in the tree, in the live session and when printing. After a session, Use the time taken takes over the time actually used.

Copy for the next semester
Step 15 of 15The Duplicate button in the table creates a copy — with all sections, questions, blocks, categories and notes, but without progress. That way the next semester starts with the proven plan.
