Privacy policy

LehrPuls is built to produce as little data as possible: the application works on your computer, and this website sets no cookies and embeds no analytics or third-party content.
Controller
Dr. Florian Hollomey, Rohr 17, 8413 Ragnitz, Austria, office@lehrpuls.com. More details in the imprint.
1. Visiting this website and downloads
The web server logs every request with IP address, time, requested address, response code, amount of data transferred, referring page, and browser identifier. This serves secure operation, defense against attacks, and counting downloads, which are evaluated only in aggregate. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after 90 days at the latest.
The server is operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in a data center in the EU; Hetzner processes the data as a processor on our behalf.
2. License requests and purchase by invoice
When you submit the form on the Get a license page, we store your details: name, e-mail address, institution or company, billing address, license type, number of seats, and optionally VAT number, purchase order number, and message. We use them to verify the license type, invoice you, issue the license key, and answer your questions. The legal basis is the performance of the contract and pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
The details are kept in our customer database on the same server at Hetzner. We keep invoices and the related details for seven years because tax law requires it (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, Section 132 of the Austrian Federal Fiscal Code). We keep licensees' names and e-mail addresses as long as the license can be used, so that we can replace a lost key. Requests that do not lead to a purchase are deleted no later than three years after the last contact.
3. Online purchase through Paddle
For online purchases, Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom, is the reseller and is responsible for the purchase itself. Paddle collects the payment data; we do not see it. Paddle sends us name, e-mail address, country, purchased product, and for companies the company name and VAT number, so that we can issue the license key (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for the United Kingdom. For details, see Paddle's privacy notice.
4. E-mail
When you write to us, we process your message and your address to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). Our mailbox is hosted by the Austrian provider oja.at. Messages unrelated to a purchase are deleted once the matter is settled, after three years at the latest.
5. The LehrPuls application
- Your content and your participants' data (questions, courses, names, answers, and results) stay on your computer. We do not receive them. You or your institution are responsible for this data.
- License: Activation works offline. Nothing is sent to us.
- Update check: At startup and at longer intervals afterwards, LehrPuls asks lehrpuls.com whether a new version is available. This only creates the log entry described in section 1; no identifiers or usage data are transmitted. You can turn the check off in the settings.
- Relay service: When you connect participants over the internet, messages pass through relay.lehrpuls.com. The content is end-to-end encrypted; the service only sees encrypted data and the room code. As in section 1, the web server logs the IP addresses of the connections and deletes the logs after 90 days at the latest. Encrypted files passing through the relay are deleted when the session ends, otherwise no later than twelve hours after the last access. To plan server capacity, the service counts sessions, devices, opened questions and data volumes. It stores these values only as numbers per hour and per session, without codes, IP addresses or content.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Please write to office@lehrpuls.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, Austria, www.dsb.gv.at.
