Running a session

From the playlist to a running session: the start dialog, participants joining, opening, closing and revealing questions, the timer, the model solution, instant questions, the random wheel and ending the session. What the individual question types look like is shown in their own guides.

    Choose and start the playlist

    Step 1 of 15

Open Playlists and select the playlist at the top. Below it is its tree with sections and questions, including the planned time. Start in the toolbar opens the start dialog; after a first run the button reads Continue. The arrow next to it offers further starting points, such as “From the selected question”.

    The start dialog

    Step 2 of 15

The start dialog has already checked the open questions. At the top, the quick selection offers Open only, All or Poorly answered. Under Participation you set the join mode: Anonymous, Pseudonym, With names or Name + student ID (the last two with a course list, see the guide “Courses and participants”). Question language, Allow recap and Follow-up are below; No reveal (survey) moves straight on after a question is closed, without revealing it, and the Test run switch starts a session that saves nothing. Whether the session runs over the room’s Wi-Fi or online via the Relay is decided on the Connection page.

The live cockpit at a glance

    Step 3 of 15

After the start, LehrPuls switches to the live cockpit. At the top are the join code, the lock (joining open or closed), the number of connected devices, Large QR (key Q: the join QR code full-screen on the wall, for the back rows and latecomers) and, on the right, Pause, Pause session and End. On the left are the questions of the playlist, in the center the large main button and below it what is currently On the projector; on the right participants, questions from participants and responses. Participants join

    Step 4 of 15

The projector shows the QR code, the code and the address. Participants scan the code and they are in — no app, no account. With the hotspot as the connection, the projector also shows a QR code that takes the smartphone straight into the right Wi-Fi.

    Set the timer

    Step 5 of 15

Below the main button, switch on the Timer and enter the duration — a plain number means minutes, “45s” means 45 seconds. If the question has a planned duration, the Planned button takes it over. Lock submits the answers automatically when the time runs out.

Question running — with time remaining

    Step 6 of 15

The main button (or the space bar) has opened the first question. The remaining time runs next to the button; a click on the ring offers +1 min and To zero. When the time is up, LehrPuls does not close the question by itself — you decide.

    The question on the smartphone

    Step 7 of 15

The question appears on the devices together with the remaining time. Participants answer and send.

    Close and reveal

    Step 8 of 15

Press the space bar twice: Close ends the submission, Show results shows the result on the projector and on all devices. One more press opens the next question.

Show and send the model solution

    Step 9 of 15

If the question has a model solution, it appears in the center after the reveal. Show on projector puts it on the wall, Send also puts it on the devices — sending cannot be undone.

    Step 11 of 15

After Send, the model solution also appears on every smartphone.

    Instant question

    Step 12 of 15

In the middle of a session a question often comes up spontaneously. Instant question only asks for the type (poll, open question, estimate, word cloud, scale) and an optional text. Add places it right after the current question; Show on projector only puts it on the wall briefly without creating it.

    Random wheel

    Step 13 of 15

Random wheel (Z) in the right column draws a connected person and shows them on the wall for five seconds — in anonymous sessions by their code. With a course list, the wheel can also draw from the whole list.

  14. 14

    End the session

    Step 14 of 15

End in the header asks for confirmation and closes the session. Pause session next to it only halts it — you can resume it later from the start page or with Resume session on the playlist. Everything played is then under Analytics.

    The end on the smartphone

    Step 15 of 15

The devices say goodbye; with recap allowed, participants can look at their answers again afterwards.
