Matching

In a matching question, participants bring items and categories together — terms to generic terms, components to circuit symbols, labels to spots in an image. On the device they tap; no dragging.

Matching terms

Participants assign every item to a category — by tapping, without dragging. The items appear shuffled on the device. Only a completely correct assignment counts as correct; partial hits feed into the attainment.

  1. 1

    Step 3 of 14

Next to each category, the image button adds an image; you can also drag the image file onto the field. A small thumbnail then appears next to it, and the text may stay empty. In the Category field of the items, the categories are then called “Category 1”, “Category 2” …

Labeling an image

A matching question can have participants label a whole image: you drag rectangles on the image — each becomes a numbered spot — and participants assign a spot to each term. Good for circuit diagrams, maps, organization charts and anatomy.

  1. 1

    Create a new question

Insert the image and draw the spots

    Step 3 of 14

Above the categories, click Image to label … or drag the image file onto this area. Then hold down the mouse button and drag a rectangle for each spot; every spot gets a number and becomes a category (a text for it is optional). Below, assign each item its correct spot. No image turns the question back into an ordinary matching question.
