Fill-in-the-gaps
In a fill-in-the-gaps question, participants complete missing terms, numbers or parts of formulas in the running text — with an input field or a drop-down list. Each gap is scored individually.
Input gaps
You write the text and put the gaps, including their solution, directly into it: `{{solution}}`, and for equivalent notations `{{solution|alternative}}`. Participants fill in the gaps within the running text. Upper and lower case do not matter; for numbers, comma and period are equivalent.

Put gaps into the text
Step 3 of 14Choose the question type Fill-in-the-gaps (cloze) and write the solutions into the text in double curly braces. More convenient: select a word and click Insert gap — this is how “ohms” became a gap here. A vertical bar separates equivalent notations: `{{volts|V}}`. Table from clipboard takes cells copied from Excel as a table, whose cells you then turn into gaps.

Choice gaps
Instead of an input field, a gap can be a drop-down list: after the solution put a tilde `~` and the wrong choices, for example `{{ohms ~ volts ~ amperes}}`. On the device the choices appear in alphabetical order so that their position gives nothing away. Input and choice gaps can be mixed in one text.
